What our customers say
“PointGuards make it easier for our patients to keep their SIM marks on until they start treatment. They stay on when the patient showers and during our hot summers in Arizona when you tend to sweat more.”
Stay in Place for the Entirety of Treatment
Before PointGuards, we used another product to extend Sharpie® marks, but it was messy, smeared easily, and failed to maintain markings well. PointGuards are clean, easy to use, and typically stay in place throughout treatment. They also provide a long-lasting alternative to permanent tattoos, helping reduce stress for patients who are uncomfortable with tattoos or fearful of needles.

Help During Extremity Treatments
Therapists use PointGuards to mark borders so rotating staff have a second reference for accurate patient setup. They’re especially helpful in extremity treatments, allowing us to mark borders and midline for precise rotation adjustments and better port film alignment. They also benefit patients by avoiding the need for additional tattoo marks.

No Skin Reaction
Before PointGuards, we were using Tegaderm™. Tegaderm is meant to cover IV sites, so it is large. We would cut it into quarters before placing on patient’s skin. The majority of patients experienced skin reactions to the Tegaderm. We do not notice this reaction with PointGuards. Tegaderm is not designed to stay on for weeks at a time. PointGuards help us keep marks on what we do not intend to make permanent, e.g. electron fields.

Lasts a Long Time
PointGuards allow us to give our patients temporary marks that will stay on during the course of their treatment, so we do not have to give them permanent tattoos. Many patients do not want a permanent reminder of their cancer treatments. PointGuards last a long time, ensuring our patients have the proper marks for an accurate treatment. Then as soon as their treatment is over, they can take them off and the mark washes away.

Reduce Time of Exam and Unnecessary Radiation
I prefer using PointGuards when tattoos are unnecessary because they reduce exam time and radiation by preserving setup marks and minimizing repeat imaging for re-alignment. They also offer a tattoo-free option many patients prefer, especially breast patients who often feel immediate relief when offered temporary marker-based positioning instead of tattoos.
